Stairs for Breakfast, Patrick Souiljaert
A few months ago, I and several others in the property investment industry passed on the word about helping Patrick Souiljaert get his book published. I’m delighted that he has succeeded in his mission – as he has with so many other challenges he has set himself in life – and more than that, am both honoured and privileged to have been sent an advance copy to read. Continue reading
Mayhem, Murder & Multi-Lets, Francis Dolley
And now for something completely different … well, sort of. Author Francis Dolley (along with daughter Emily) is well known for his work with multi-letting and the rent-to-rent strategy, but Mayhem, Murder & Multi-Lets turned out to be much more than the theory of rent-to-rent that I expected. It is a thoroughly entertaining read, and one that might well have you laughing out loud at times and cringing at others. Continue reading
The E-Myth Revisited, Michael Gerber
If I had to choose a favourite business book, The E-Myth Revisited would probably be right up there at the top of the list. The sense and sheer simplicity of the message so inspired me when I first read it that it has been a contributing factor not just to the way I have worked ever since, but also to what I have chosen to do. Continue reading
HMO Property Success, Nick Fox
The Other Half and I have done quite a few things in property, but one of the things we do not have experience of (yet) is a professional House in Multiple Occupation (HMO). If/when that happens, I will be re-reading this book from cover to cover. Continue reading
Property Investment: The Essential Rules, Samantha Collett
This is Samantha Collett’s second book this year and the title says it all. This is about property investment and is an essential read for anyone who is new to investing, or even just thinking about it at the moment. Continue reading
Inside EA: A Behind the Scenes Look at How Estate Agents Operate, Steve Lucas
Inside EA is all about what it takes – and what it is really like – to be an estate agent. If you have no experience in the game, then you might be in for a surprise. It’s probably tougher than you think. Continue reading
Beyond the Bricks: Financial Freedom Through Property, Rob Dix
This is different to any other property book I have yet read. If you like learning from others’ experiences, then you will enjoy this. The author, Rob Dix, has collated stories, backgrounds and strategy details from nine UK-based investors, and analyses the findings at the end. Continue reading
Student Letting, Simon Thompson
I am slightly ashamed to say that this book has been sitting in my rapidly growing pile of books to review for longer than it should have. However, there was a little bit of method in my … well, not quite procrastination, because this time of year is a particularly intense one for student landlords and I thought it might be a relevant time to bring this title to your attention. So, before I start, an apology to Simon and the crew at Accommodation for Students for holding back, albeit with good intentions. Continue reading
Multiple Streams of Property Income, Rob Moore
Rob Moore’s book is a welcome addition to the selection of property books available. Targeted mainly at people who have been in the game for a while, he discusses how to transition from property investment to property business, however large or small you want that business to be. Continue reading
